Physical properties

Nylon 6 has similar chemical physics to nylon 66, however, it has a lower melting point and a wide process temperature range. It is better impact and solubility than nylon 66 plastic but also more hygroscopic. Because many quality properties of the plastic parts are affected by moisture absorption, this should be fully considered with nylon 6 design products. To improve the mechanical properties of the nylon 6, a wide variety of modifiers are often added. Bose fiber is the most common additive, sometimes adding synthetic rubber, such as EPDM and SBR, to improve impact resistance. For products without additives, the nylon 6 plastic material shrink between 1% and 1.5%. Adding fiberglass additives reduces the shrinkage rate to 0.3% (but slightly more perpendicular to the process). The shrinkage rate of the molding and assembly is mainly affected by the crystallinity and moisture absorption of the material. The actual shrinkage rate is also a function of the plastic part design, wall thickness and other process parameters. Nylon 6 injection molding drying treatment Because nylon 6 is easy to absorb water, so special attention should be paid to the drying before processing.
